To understand student housing as a huge house, one must examine means of living through routine - how we occupy individually, and how we share space. Through the act of storytelling, the project adopts a connecting to country framework by accentuating these narratives as critical knowledge sharing. Here, the significance of the plan is accentuated, working from the small scale of the room to the extended scale of the site and its surrounding context. ‘Consortia’, from consortium, provides generous space for shared living to occur within the challenges of isolation in student housing. Circulation becomes defined in its own right, possessing its own narrative quality.
The project responds to significant questions about living in this challenging urban context, developed through consultation with The University of Sydney’s Gadigal Centre.
